The Brand New 1.8 Mile Private Road Course in San Marcos

The Maker of Premier Car Care Products

To celebrate the release of the new Speed Racer movie (May 9), the Tourmaster has planned a special, one-time-only driving event which will start in Austin and continue along some of the most exciting roads in the hill country.

The destination will be a drive-in movie theater
-- one of the few left in Texas --
where Rally participants and friends will gather to watch the new Speed Racer movie.

Please note that the Rally will be on May 17th.

The SPEED RACER 5000 RALLY will be limited to 20 sports cars and sedans. However, there will likely be more cars to meet the Rally group at the beginning and at the end.

As the name implies, our goal is to bring together a special group of cars whose total horsepower will exceed 5,000 horsepower (which is the horsepower rating of Speed Racer's Mach 5 race car.)

The Rally will be kicked off when our head cheerleader announces,

"Gentlemen! Start your engines!"

and all the cars are started at once,
bringing 5,000+ horsepower alive at the same time.

The roar should be impressive and unforgettable.

This Rally event will include:
  1. Your chance to win one of three half-day passes at the new private Harris Hill Road (HHR) track in San Marcos (see details below)
  2. Free car-care products from Meguiar's
  3. Rally kick-off with 5,000+ horsepower coming ALIVE all at once!
  4. Group visit to famous pie shop to satisfy mid-drive snack attack (hmmm...pie)
  5. Spirited 180 mile drive through the hill country led by the Tourmaster
  6. Rush of adrenaline, high G turns, squealing tires, echoes of high-revving engines
  7. A few negative G dips and maybe a couple of zero-gravity humps (for the brave and fearless only)
  8. Miles and miles of beautiful hill country scenery
  9. Unusual camaraderie of 35-50 of the coolest driving enthusiasts in Texas
  10. A blast to the past at a drive-in movie theater as we watch the new Speed Racer movie on the big screen under the stars
  11. An unhealthy dinner including greasy-but-delicious pizzas, hotdogs, nachos, popcorn, and assortment of drinks
For those who want healthy food, we'll do a dinner run to nearby restaurants once we get to the drive-in and park in our reserved spots. Of course, you may also bring your own dinner if you like.
  12. Memories of an unforgettable day.

Details Regarding Half-Day Passes to the Harris Hill Road course
  • Harris Hill Road is a very fun track with lots of elevation changes.
  • Each winner will have the opportunity to invite one guest (and their guest's own car) to join him/her at HHR (you'll have more fun chasing each other!)
  • Each winner and their guest will have unlimited access to the track for a continuous period of four (4) hours. Even those from out of town could drive in and drive back home the same day.
  • Each winner and their guest will have exclusive access to the entire track i.e. no other cars will be on the track with them.
  • The passes may be used on any Wednesday of the winning driver's choosing.
  • These passes normally cost $100 for members of this private track. Non-members do not have access to this kind of unlimited private track usage.
  • Drawings to determine the winners will be done after dinner at the drive-in theater before the movie starts. Drawings will be done from the names of registered drivers only.

Registration is required. There is a registration fee ($35 per car). Please follow all of the steps listed on the Registration page to provide the required documents and payment.

Technical Inspection
Drivers and their cars which meet at least one of the qualifications below are NOT required to have a NEW technical inspection performed on their car:
  1. Cars for which a technical inspection was performed for a recognized HPDE (high performance driving event) in the last six months (e.g. PCA, Driver's Edge, etc.)
  2. Drivers and their cars who participated in last Raging Bull Texas Stampede (January 25-27, 2008)
  3. Drivers and their cars which have participated in at least two Raging Bull Texas Stampedes
  4. Brand new cars with less than a 1,000 miles on their odometers
Even if you and your car meet one of the qualifications, the Tourmaster still recommends you have a technical inspection performed on your car (but it is not required.)

For the safety of all participants, all other cars (i.e. those which do not meet any of the three qualifications above) are required to have a technical inspection performed on their car. Please follow all of the steps listed on the Registration page.

Rules and Requirements
All other Stampede rules and requirements will apply. Please carefully read all the information on the Registration page.

The Drive-In Movie Theater Experience

The quintessential drive-in experience is something
that's almost disappeared now; many under the age of 30
have probably never seen a movie under the stars in a car.

Come join us for a blast to the past.
Re-live the memories of going to a drive-in or
experience for the first time how your parents
used to watch all of the wonders from Hollywood
under a canopy no movie theather can duplicate:
the central Texas night sky.

Preparation for Drive-In Movie Theater
  • Bring your chairs and whatever refreshments you want to have. All kinds of drinks, popcorn, hotdogs, nachos, snacks, candy and much are available from the concession stand.

  • Bring a jacket and blanket in case it gets a little chilly at the drive-in theater (one can dream)

  • Cost of admission to drive-in movie theater is $10 per carload for both movies. So bring as many people as you can!

  • The drive-in does not accept credit cards so please bring enough cash for admission and other purchases.

Drive-In Dos and Don'ts
  • DO bring bug spray.

  • DO bring lawn chairs.

  • DO bring a jam box. Even the best car stereos can sound muddy when you're sitting in front of the car. A jam box with radio behind your head can bring out the finer subtleties of dialogue.

  • DO feel comfortable socializing with your fellow movie-goers beforehand, but be considerate after the movie has started.

  • DON'T bring a laser pointer. That's just rude, and can get you thrown right out.

  • DON'T let your kids run amok while the movie is running.

  • DON'T leave your dome light on. If you keep the doors open, figure out some way to kill the dome light.

  • DON'T turn on your headlights if you leave the drive-in early; use your parking lights.

  • DON'T honk if there's a projector problem. It's not clever, it's just rude.

The lot is beginning to fill up on a Saturday night.
