OTHER DETAILS
Start location San Marcos, Texas
Stampede Route Detailed route maps will be provided at Drivers Meetings. The Raging Bull will be 264, 345, and 180 miles on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, respectively. The routes are different each day.

For those in the 'I Can't Get Enough' category of drivers, there will be a:
  • Best of Austin's Roads run (about 96 miles) on Thursday before lunch
which will be followed by a visit to Harris Hill Road in the afternoon
  • 44 mile bonus run on Friday afternoon before dinner
  • 31 mile bonus run Saturday morning before breakfast.
Please don't write the Tourmaster asking for route maps; as a rule he does not give out route maps either before or after the Stampede.
Attendance Will be limited to 25 cars to maximize the enjoyment and safety for everyone.
If there is more interest, we may allow more cars by dividing the group into two sub-groups.

Open to sports cars of all makes and models.
Registration Is required. Click here to register.
Registration fee Is required. Details are at the bottom of the Registration page.
The purpose and use of the registration fee are explained on the FAQ page.
Accommodations The Tourmaster's working on this. Go to the Accommodations page for details.
Courtesy Vehicle In order for Bull Riders to reduce their car's weight (which should improve performance and handling) and increase safety (by making handling more predictable and eliminating items which could suddenly move inside the car and distract the driver a Courtesy Van will be available for everyone's use. Participants will be able to add or remove luggage and other items (including spare tires) from the Courtesy Van at any meeting point, break area, and overnight place during the Stampede, including the start in San Marcos and the end in Austin.

For an added measure of safety, the Courtesy Van will be staffed by a Paramedic and EMT with their own personal medical equipment.
Purchasing Spare Tire(s) During none of the Stampedes or other drives in the past six years has anyone had a flat or blowout. And in all reality, with the tire requirements in place and pre-trip road surveying done, your chances of having a flat or blowout are slim.

However, it's always a possibility to have a flat and, if this were to occur, your car's tire may not be easily obtainable in remote parts of the hill country. Moreover, for some high-end vehicles, finding a shop with the proper equipment to install a replacement tire could be time-consuming. Having a spare tire could save a weekend which could have been wasted trying to procure a replacement tire.

If you don't already have a regular (full) size spare tire and would like to have one available during the Stampede, the Tourmaster has made arrangements with Discount Tire in Georgetown, Texas.

You may purchase a tire or tires from this store and return them (unused) after the event for a 10% fee to cover re-stocking and return shipping. As an example, a $125 tire would cost you $12.50 when you return it. The small fee should be worth the convenience and opportunity to save a weekend which could have been wasted.

This store does match TireRack's and any other store's lowest price. The store will let you return the tire even if it has been mounted on a wheel but as long as it has not been driven on. Of course, you can also just keep the tire if you want to.

Please contact Jared Stephens, Manager, or Jason Wilson, Assistant Manager, at 512.868.4400 if this is something that interests you. This store is conveniently located just off of I-35 20 miles north of Austin.

For your convenience, the Courtesy Van will be available to pick up and return any spare tires from this store. Also, provided there is space available, the Courtesy Van can transport them for you during the Stampede. Please contact the Tourmaster to make such arrangements.

QUALIFICATION

As the organizer of this event, the Tourmaster is responsible, both morally and legally, to do whatever possible - within reason - to ensure that this is a safe event for everyone. Therefore, the following requirements have been instituted:

Refusal of Application and Attendance The Tourmaster has the right to deny anyone's application and attendance for any reason at any time before or after an application has been received or accepted by the Tourmaster, including any time leading up to the start time of the Stampede.
Individuals known by the Tourmaster or the car enthusiast community at large to be unsafe drivers may NOT be allowed to participate in the Raging Bull Texas Stampede and other driving events organized by the Tourmaster.
Unsafe drivers may be asked to leave the Stampede at any time for any reason.
Eligibility Given that good driving habits are mostly the result of sound judgment and driving experience, all licensed drivers (and passengers who are eligible by the State to be legal drivers) are required to be at least 25 years old. This rule was established based on the nature of the event and experience at previous Stampedes.

Note #1: The primary reason that the rule above applies to both drivers and passengers is because the Tourmaster has no way of controlling who is driving a particular car when there are two or more licensed people in a vehicle.

Note #2: An exception may be made for a driver younger than 25 if at least two officers of any official and legally recognized car club can recommend the driver younger than 25 as being a safe and responsible driver. Please contact the Tourmaster via email to inquire about information which would be required in such a recommendation. Depending on the age of the driver and other circumstances, the driver younger than 25 may be expected to possess many years of experience in motorsports such as high performance driving events (HPDEs), autocrossing, or some other type of road racing.

Note #3: Children 15 or younger are allowed to attend as passengers. License and proof of insurance requirements listed below do not apply. However, they do need to sign the liability waivers.
License & Insurance All drivers and passengers will be required to show a valid driver's license and proof of automobile liability insurance coverage, and provide a photocopy of both prior to the event. Please don't complain to the Tourmaster: You would be required the same at any track event plus you shouldn't be driving if you don't have them with you.
Waivers Each participant (driver and all passengers) will be required to sign waivers agreeing not to sue the event organizers, event volunteers, Club Sponsors, Corporate Sponsors, or Special Sponsors for any damages to their person or property resulting from their participation in this event.
Safety: Radios Each participating car will be required to have one functioning FRS/GMRS radio (walkie-talkie) which is compatible with FRS/GMRS Motorola radios. This radio must prove to be functioning properly and adequately by passing the Radio Test conducted at the start of the event. Given the nature of this event, the timely communication of road hazard information between drivers contributes greatly to the safety of the drivers. Most radios are fairly inexpensive and can be purchased from Walmart or Best Buy. In addition to the safety aspect, radios also contribute greatly to your driving enjoyment by allowing you to participate in entertaining conversations that go on throughout the day. In past drives, many people who didn't have them felt left out of many conversations and in the dark regarding what was going on.
Safety: Technical Inspection Each vehicle owner will be required to have their vehicle inspected at a shop of their choice and have a basic technical inspection form completed by a qualified technician. Some cars may be inspected by our own technician to verify the accuracy of reported results on the submitted technical inspection forms.
Safety: Tire Requirements At the start of the event, the tires on each participating vehicle will be inspected to ensure they meet the following requirements:
  1. Street tires (other-than-competition tires) only
  2. D.O.T-legal tires only
  3. Treadwear rating (UTQG) of 100 or higher
  4. Minimum 4/32" of tread depth
(this should not be an issue if #1, #2, and #3 are satisfied)
  5. No shaved tires
Safety No alcoholic beverages are allowed in any participating car during the event. Each participating car will be inspected for compliance prior to the start of the event.

Drivers and cars which do not meet all of the requirements will be disqualified and not allowed to participate in the event. Please don't complain to the Tourmaster: You would be required the same at any track event plus you will thank the Tourmaster you did all of this after discovering the workout your car will receive. This is for your safety and the safety of those driving near you. This will also help you avoid having a mechanical breakdown hundreds of miles from the nearest dealership.

If:
  • driver and passenger(s) are NOT at least 25 years old OR
  • driver and passenger(s) have not received the aforementioned recommendation OR
  • driver and passenger(s) do not have a valid driver's license OR
  • driver and passenger(s) do not have proof of auto. liability insurance OR
  • all participants do not agree to sign the waivers OR
  • driver does not bring one functioning Motorola-compatible radio OR
  • driver and/or owner has not had his/her vehicle inspected at a reputable shop and has not had the technical inspection form completed by a qualified technician and if his/her vehicle does not meet the technical specifications required on the inspection form, OR
  • your participating vehicle's tires do not meet the Tire Requirements listed above,
please do NOT even THINK about just showing up for the Stampede. You will not be allowed to participate in the event and all legal means will be used to achieve this.
