Friday night, January 16, 2009

Our hitchin' post will be at the Canyon of the Eagles Lodge and Nature Park overlooking Lake Buchanan in Burnet, Texas. (Click on the logo above for more details about this lodge)

  • All 30 lodges with a view of the lake have been blocked for our group.
  • Dinner Friday night and breakfast Saturday morning will be at the Canyon Room Restaurant overlooking Lake Buchanan.
  • After dinner, Texas's own Cowboy Poet, Dennis Raines, will come visit us to share his stories, poems, and songs.
  • Later that night, a member of the Austin Astronomical Society will be present at the Eagle Eye Observatory for those interested in exploring the moon, stars, and space through two powerful telescopes. He'll be there to help you and answer your questions.
  • Since the road leading to the observatory is dirt and gravel, the Tourmaster has made arrangements for a special hayride trailer to take us there and back.
  • The patio and its large fireplace have been reserved for our group's use. Plenty of firewood will be stocked.

Stay Friday night and avoid having to drive into Burnet very early Saturday morning.

Reservations and Lodge Rates
  • 32 rooms have been blocked for our group for Friday at the very special rate of $99 per night (regular rates are $159-$179 per night). Normally a minimum two night stay is required but the Tourmaster has negotiated this great rate for a one night stay.
  • 30 out of 32 lodge rooms blocked for our group have lake views.
  • Click here for a map of the grounds.
  • You must register for the Stampede on or before December 15, 2008 to reserve any of the 32 lodge rooms blocked for our group (including 30 which have lake views). After this date, your room choices will be limited (i.e. whatever's available).
  • Breakfast is not included in the rate.
  • Total taxes are 11% in addition to the room rate.
You do not need to make reservations for a lodge room.
When you register for the Raging Bull Texas Stampede, a lodge room with either one or two queen beds will be automatically reserved in your name. Please email the Tourmaster to specify your bed preference (one or two queen bed, which is subject to availability at the time your actual registration is received by the Tourmaster). You will be responsible for room payment upon checkout.

Breakfast
A breakfast buffet will be served Saturday morning for $9.95 plus tax.

Saturday night, January 17, 2008

On Saturday, our destination will be the small hill country town of Hamilton, Texas. Our group will stay in two different places. All but a few people will stay at the Best Western Inn at Circle T. This is clearly not your usual Best Western. It's the most unique and customized one the Tourmaster has ever seen.

Those fortunate enough to reserve one in time before they run out will stay overnight in one of the four master bedrooms, each having its own private bath, of the lodge at the 1,200 acre Little Bear Creek Ranch. The lodge is five thousand square feet of rustic luxury perched on a hill overlooking pecan trees and lush fields where Buffalo wander less than a 100 yards from the window. In the great room, vaulted ceilings and slate floors accompany leather sofas and chairs, where our post-Stampede conversations by the fireplace will accompany our relaxation. And in the cool of the night, under a canopy of stars, our conversations will be kept warm with the dancing fire out on the patio.

Reservations and Room Rates at Best Western Inn
  • A total of 22 rooms (9 King, 13 double Queen) have been blocked for our group at the special rate of $99.99 per night (regular rate is $129.99)
  • Total taxes are 6% in addition to the room rate.
  • Breakfast is not included in this room rate (breakfast will be catered at the ranch and the cost is already included in your registration fee; see below for details)
  • You must make your reservation on or before December 17, 2008 to get this special rate. After this date, rates go back up to regular levels.
To make your reservation, call 254.386.3209. When you call, please make sure to tell the clerk that you are with the Raging Bull Texas Stampede group so that you will receive the discounted rate.

Reservations and Room Rates at Little Bear Creek Ranch
  • All four rooms at the Lodge have been blocked for our group at the special rate of $140 per night
  • One of the rooms has one queen and one twin bed while the other three rooms have two twin beds in each
  • Each room has its own bathroom.
  • Taxes are already included in the $140 room rate.
  • Breakfast is not included in this room rate (breakfast will be catered at the ranch and the cost is already included in your registration fee; see below for details)
To reserve your Lodge room, call Trina at 254-485-2570 (cell). When you call, please tell her that you are with the Raging Bull Texas Stampede group so that you will receive the rate above.

Cancellation Policy
Your reservation must be canceled by January 15, 2009 to ensure your credit card is not charged. If you make a reservation and don't show up, you will be charged for one night's stay plus taxes.

Dinner and Afterwards
We'll have dinner at the Crossfire Cafe which is inside the Circle T Ranch Arena which is located on the same property as the Best Western Inn. The Circle T Ranch Arena is a state-of-the-art facility with four acres under one roof. The Crossfire Cafe, which is inside the Arena, prides itself in having the longest granite bar in the state of Texas. The Cafe has a direct view of the arena and live entertainment. The stage sits directly above the bar making it an ideal spot to watch the live bands.

Breakfast Sunday Morning
The cost of breakfast is not included in the lodging rates quoted above for the Best Western Inn and Little Bear Creek Ranch. The Tourmaster has made special arrangements for a Cowboy Breakfast to be served to our group at the Lodge at the Little Bear Creek Ranch. The cost of this breakfast buffet is included in your registration fee. The Cowboy Breakfast menu will include scrambled eggs, bacon, chicken fried venison, cream gravy, camp potatoes, biscuits, fresh fruit, coffee, and juice. Seating will be inside the Lodge and around the campfire outside. This is promising to be a very special time.
